Sony’s Rolly - The new mp3 player
In a bid to create something new in the music segment, Sony has come out with a new screen-less mp3 player where the controlling is through motions and displays and status indications are all through lights.
The device is totally controlled by physically moving the device in various ways or by rolling the roller at the center of the egg shaped device clockwise or anti-clockwise or by various other motions. All status indications are provided by the circular disks of light.
The speakers are at the two ends of the device and surprisingly there no headphone jack for the device which means all streaming to external devices is accomplished by bluetooth devices. The memory capacity is a low 1 GB.
The device itself looks weird and out of the ordinary. While the gadget could be a fun thing to have to those who can afford to spend freely, I doubt if it’s utility can better any normal iPod or mp3 player. Anyway it is something new and surely eye-catching.
The device will apparently debut in Japan on September 29 for 39,800 Yen. About it’s release in other regions of the world, no word is out as yet.
