Using Firefox? Be sure to keep your passwords safe. Use the master password feature.
One feature that is used a lot in most browsers is the ‘remember password’ feature. In Firefox too, everytime you enter your username and password for the first time in a login-form, a small box pops out asking you if you want Firefox to remember your password.

When you click on the ‘Remember‘ button, Firefox adds this username-password combination along with the corresponding webpage address to its database of passwords.
Now, if you think nobody can actually find out what out what your stored passwords are, you are wrong! Just go to Tools –> Options and click on the security icon. Next, click on the show passwords button and in the box that pops out, again click on the show passwords button. Now, click yes and lo!, all your passwords are displayed as a neat list for anybody to find out!
However, in order for the passwords to be inaccessible to someone using your computer, what can be done is to set a master password. Again go to Tools –> Options –> Security and put a check against ‘Use a master password’. Next, set a new master password so that the next time anybody tries to access your passwords they will be prompted to enter the master password before the stored passwords are displayed.
A simple tip, yet pretty useful.
